The Chiara is a 1.00ct emerald-cut diamond solitaire pendant, claw-set and suspended from a fine gold chain. A single emerald-cut diamond, held in a four-claw setting, rests just below the collarbone on a 45cm cable chain with a secure bolt clasp. The emerald cut's long, stepped facets give a clean, architectural sparkle, quiet enough for every day and striking enough for evening.

Frequently asked questions

What is an emerald-cut diamond?

An emerald cut is a rectangular step cut with long, straight facets that create a clear, hall-of-mirrors look. It favours clarity and clean lines over the fiery sparkle of a brilliant cut, which is why it reads as understated and architectural.

Is a 1 carat solitaire pendant a good size?

A 1.00ct centre is a versatile size for a solitaire pendant, substantial enough to catch the eye at the collarbone yet light and wearable every day. The emerald cut also looks larger for its weight thanks to its elongated shape.

Lab-grown or natural diamond?

Both are offered. You choose a lab-grown diamond (E VVS) or a natural diamond (F VVS), along with your gold colour, at checkout.

How long does it take to make?

The Chiara is hand-made to order in our Byron Bay Hinterland atelier, usually within 4 to 8 weeks, with free shipping Australia-wide and a lifetime craftsmanship warranty.

Are lab grown diamonds as good as natural diamonds?
Lab grown and natural diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical. Every Lucano diamond is F VS graded. The only differences are provenance and price: lab grown diamonds cost less for the same colour and clarity grade, while natural diamonds carry geological rarity.
What does F VS mean in your diamond grading?
F is the colour grade, the highest 'colourless' tier just below D and E. VS means 'Very Slightly Included', where inclusions are visible only under 10x magnification and not to the naked eye. Every Lucano diamond meets or exceeds this standard.
Where is Lucano jewellery made and how are your diamonds sourced?
Every piece is hand-made in our Byron Bay Hinterland studio by Australian goldsmiths. Our founder is a member of St Eligio, Università e Nobil Collegio degli Orefici jewellery association established in Rome in 1508. Gold is sourced from ABC Refinery (Australia's only LBMA/SGE/COMEX-accredited independent refiner), and every diamond is traceable, RJC-certified, and comes with full chain-of-custody documentation.
What's the difference between 9ct, 18ct, and platinum settings?
9ct gold is harder and more affordable. 18ct gold has a richer warmth and higher gold content (75%). Platinum is the densest and most durable; it doesn't tarnish and develops a soft patina over time. Every Lucano setting holds your diamond with the same goldsmithing precision.
How long does a Lucano hand-made piece take?
Each piece is hand-made to order in approximately 6 to 8 weeks. You can see your specific production and delivery timeline on the product page.
