Frequently asked questions

What is a cluster diamond ring?
A cluster ring features multiple smaller diamonds arranged together to create a single visual focal point, rather than a single centre stone. Cluster designs often appear more sculptural and ornate than solitaires, and they can read as either modern (geometric clusters like the Tessera) or vintage (floral clusters).

What is a baguette-cut diamond?
A baguette-cut diamond is rectangular with stepped, parallel facets, similar to an emerald-cut but typically smaller and longer. Baguettes were one of the signature shapes of Art Deco jewellery in the 1920s and remain a hallmark of geometric, architectural designs.

Is this an engagement ring?
The Tessera is positioned as a cluster ring rather than a traditional centre-stone engagement ring. It works as a distinctive engagement choice for buyers drawn to Art Deco aesthetics, or as a statement right-hand ring.

Can I choose between lab-grown and natural diamonds?
Yes. The Tessera is offered with either natural or lab-grown F VS diamonds.

How long does it take to make?
Each Tessera Baguette Cluster Ring is hand-made to order in our Byron Bay Hinterland atelier by Australian goldsmiths. Lead times typically run 4 to 6 weeks. Free shipping Australia-wide once dispatched, with Lucano's lifetime craftsmanship warranty.

Total Diamond Weight (available options):

  • 1.58 ct
Are lab grown diamonds as good as natural diamonds?
Lab grown and natural diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical. Every Lucano diamond is F VS graded. The only differences are provenance and price: lab grown diamonds cost less for the same colour and clarity grade, while natural diamonds carry geological rarity.
What does F VS mean in your diamond grading?
F is the colour grade, the highest 'colourless' tier just below D and E. VS means 'Very Slightly Included', where inclusions are visible only under 10x magnification and not to the naked eye. Every Lucano diamond meets or exceeds this standard.
Where is Lucano jewellery made and how are your diamonds sourced?
Every piece is hand-made in our Byron Bay Hinterland studio by Australian goldsmiths. Our founder is a member of St Eligio, Università e Nobil Collegio degli Orefici jewellery association established in Rome in 1508. Gold is sourced from ABC Refinery (Australia's only LBMA/SGE/COMEX-accredited independent refiner), and every diamond is traceable, RJC-certified, and comes with full chain-of-custody documentation.
What's the difference between 9ct, 18ct, and platinum settings?
9ct gold is harder and more affordable. 18ct gold has a richer warmth and higher gold content (75%). Platinum is the densest and most durable; it doesn't tarnish and develops a soft patina over time. Every Lucano setting holds your diamond with the same goldsmithing precision.
How long does a Lucano hand-made piece take?
Each piece is hand-made to order in approximately 6 to 8 weeks. You can see your specific production and delivery timeline on the product page.
