The Venetian Chain is a solid gold rope chain — strands of gold twisted into a continuous spiral that catches light along its length. A 2.2mm rope chain at 45cm, made to order in solid 9ct or 18ct yellow or white gold.

What is a rope chain?
A rope chain is made of gold strands twisted into a continuous spiral. The twist creates many small facets along the chain, so it catches light from every angle and reads richer than a flat link of the same weight.

Why is it called Venetian if it's a rope chain?
The full Italian name for this style is torchon veneziano — the Venetian twist. Torchon refers to the spiral, and the style belongs to the Venetian chain-making tradition. In English it is simply called a rope chain.

Is the chain solid gold?

9ct or 18ct, which should I choose?

Where is Lucano jewellery made?
Every Lucano piece is hand-made in our Byron Bay Hinterland studio by Australian goldsmiths. Our founder is a member of St Eligio, Università e Nobil Collegio degli Orefici jewellery association established in Rome in 1508, and that lineage informs every angle and finish.
What's the difference between 9ct and 18ct gold?
9ct gold contains 37.5% pure gold; 18ct contains 75%. 18ct has a richer warm colour and higher gold value, while 9ct is harder and more durable for everyday wear. Both are solid gold, not plated, and both are RJC-certified at Lucano.
Where do you source your gold?
We source exclusively from ABC Refinery, Australia's only independent refiner with simultaneous LBMA, SGE, and CME Group COMEX accreditation. Our entire supply chain meets Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) standards for human rights, labour, and environmental practice.
How long does a Lucano piece take to make?
Each piece is hand-made to order. Typical production is 4 to 8 weeks, and you can see your specific timeline directly on each product page.
How do I care for my gold piece?
Store in the original pouch to prevent scratches. Avoid contact with chlorine, perfume, and harsh detergents. Clean gently with warm water and a soft cloth. We offer complimentary polishing as part of our lifetime warranty.
